Digital tools unlock new income opportunities
Telecom operator Banglalink has partnered with Romoni to promote digital and financial empowerment among women service providers, enabling them to diversify their income sources.
The collaboration was formalised at a signing ceremony held at Banglalink headquarters in Dhaka, where representatives from both organisations highlighted the initiative’s potential to strengthen women’s participation in the digital economy.
Under the partnership, Romoni’s service providers will be trained to perform digital recharges and offer related services through their smartphones. By using the Banglalink Power platform, they can earn commissions, creating an additional and flexible income stream alongside their existing work.
The initiative also focuses on building digital literacy and responsible usage skills, allowing participants to operate confidently and securely in an increasingly digital marketplace. Through a simple onboarding process, users can access real-time commission tracking and benefit from a transparent reward system.
Officials said the programme offers a practical pathway for women, particularly those already active within their communities, to expand their services and strengthen financial independence.
Banglalink representatives noted that the initiative aligns with their broader strategy to support micro-entrepreneurs and promote inclusive digital growth. Romoni officials added that the partnership will provide their service providers with the tools and technology needed to enhance earnings and explore new opportunities.
Industry observers see this move as a significant step toward bridging the gap between digital access and meaningful economic participation for women in Bangladesh.
