Support turns struggle into academic hope
In a heartening example of corporate support for education, Shwapno has taken full responsibility for the higher education expenses of a meritorious student from Kushtia, enabling him to pursue his academic dreams despite financial hardship.
Omar, who secured the 90th position nationwide in the GST (Integrated) university admission test for the 2025–26 session, also ranked 251st at Jahangirnagar University and 743rd at University of Rajshahi. However, his prospects were under threat due to an inability to afford admission and tuition fees.
Coming from an impoverished background, Omar lost his father at an early age and has since depended on his mother, a domestic worker, for survival. Alongside his studies, he worked as a day labourer to support his family while preparing for competitive exams.
Despite these challenges, he achieved a GPA-5 in his Secondary School Certificate examinations in 2023 and scored 4.92 in Higher Secondary Certificate examinations in 2025.
Expressing gratitude, Omar said the support has lifted a major financial burden, allowing him to focus on his studies without fear or uncertainty.
Shwapno officials said the initiative is part of their ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts, aimed at supporting underprivileged yet talented individuals. They added that timely intervention can create lasting change in such lives.
