The launch marks Ceylon Tropics’ entry into Bangladesh’s growing personal care market.
Sri Lanka’s popular coconut oil brand Ceylon Tropics has entered the Bangladesh market, with its products launched on Thursday at a three-day cosmetics, skincare and personal care exhibition in Dhaka.
AgroKagri Commodities, the Bangladesh-based sole distributor of Ceylon Tropics, launched the products at the exhibition held at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Kuril.
The Chattogram-based company AgroKagri is participating in the three-day exhibition, which brings together local and international brands from the cosmetics, skincare and personal care sectors.
Abdul Hamid, owner and chief executive officer of AgroKagri Commodities, told The Shuttle Times that the company had completed the necessary government procedures, including obtaining approval from the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI), before launching the products.
“We have completed all the necessary government procedures, including BSTI approval,” he said.
The company has initially imported one container of Ceylon Tropics products for the Bangladesh market, Hamid said.
He said AgroKagri aims to make the products available across the country, with an initial focus on Dhaka and Chattogram, as well as other divisional cities.
The products will be sold through both physical retail outlets and online platforms, he added.
According to Hamid, Ceylon Tropics is a specialised trading and distribution company operating in Bangladesh, with a focus on specialty chemicals and raw materials for various industries.
Its portfolio covers a range of sectors, including food and nutrition, pharmaceuticals, plastics and rubber, cosmetics and personal care, textiles, and paints and coatings.
The company’s management team has expertise in chemical sourcing, regulatory compliance and market strategy, he said, adding that the business aims to build long-term partnerships by focusing on product quality, transparency and reliable distribution.
