Over 31,000 pilgrims reach Saudi Arabia for Hajj

A total of 31,283 Hajj pilgrims from Bangladesh have reached Saudi Arabia during the first four days of this year's Hajj travel.

Director of the Bangladesh Hajj Office Lokman Hossain said that 78 flights had landed in Jeddah carrying the pilgrims as of 10am today.

He said a total of 78,500 people from Bangladesh have been allowed to perform Hajj this year. Of them, 660 agencies are involved in managing pilgrims under private arrangements, including 30 lead agencies and 630 coordinating agencies.

According to airline data, 12,814 pilgrims travelled on 31 flights operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 11,334 pilgrims on 29 flights of Saudi Airlines, and 7,135 pilgrims on 18 flights of Flynas Airlines.

The Hajj office also said seven more flights are scheduled to depart from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Saudi Arabia.

The remaining 47,013 pilgrims are expected to reach Saudi Arabia gradually on designated flights, the director added.

According to official figures, 4,565 pilgrims will perform Hajj under government management, while 73,935 will go under private arrangements.

The Hajj office further said that 78,296 pilgrims had received visas from the Saudi Arabian Embassy as of yesterday, including 4,419 under government management and 73,877 under private arrangements.
