The Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RPMP) arrested 32 people wanted in various cases and seized a large quantity of smuggled Indian goods and narcotics during a special drive conducted across the city over the past 24 hours.

 

The operation was carried out under the directive of RPMP Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud. Various RPMP units took part in the crackdown, achieving significant success in curbing crime, smuggling, drug trafficking and drug abuse.

 

Under the supervision of Deputy Police Commissioner (DB) Sanatan Chakraborty, a Detective Branch (DB) team conducted a raid at around 6:00 a.m. today in the City Bazar area and seized 150,000 counterfeit bidis stored in six bags.

 

During the operation, police arrested Lavlu, 28, son of Saidur Rahman, from Benughat village under Haragach Police Station in Rangpur Metropolitan, in connection with the incident.

 

In another operation led by Sanatan Chakraborty, DB police seized 15 bags of smuggled Indian cosmetics and toothpaste, nine bags of Indian garments, 23 bags of counterfeit cigarettes of various brands, two bags of counterfeit Akij bidis and 50 Yaba tablets from the city's Fire Service intersection.

 

Separately, RPMP units arrested 32 suspects from different parts of Rangpur Metropolitan over the past 24 hours in connection with various criminal offences.

 

RPMP Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud said special operations would continue regularly across the city to maintain law and order and to combat smuggling, drug-related crimes and all other forms of criminal activity.
