Mobile Court Tightens Noose on Drugs
A mobile court in Bera Upazila of Pabna sentenced four drug dealers and users to various terms of imprisonment and imposed fines during a special anti-drug crackdown conducted on Wednesday.

The drive was led by Bera Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Nuren Maisha Khan as part of an ongoing campaign to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the area.
The operation was carried out in the Madhyapara, Moitrabandha and Natun Bharenga areas of the upazila. During the drive, four individuals were found guilty of drug-related offences and punished under the relevant provisions of the law.
According to mobile court sources, Ratul Amin, son of Afez Ali of Natun Bharenga, was arrested following a case filed by Sub-Inspector (SI) Rashed. The court sentenced him to six months' imprisonment for consuming and selling narcotics.
In a separate case prosecuted by SI Sohan of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC), Pabna, three other individuals were convicted under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018. Md. Murad, son of Md. Rauf of Moitrabandha, was sentenced to three months in prison, while Md. Roni Shekh, son of Shaheb Ali of Madhyapara, and Nur Islam of the same area were each sentenced to one month in jail.
Executive Magistrate Nuren Maisha Khan said the administration would continue such anti-drug operations in the future to protect public interests and eliminate the spread of narcotics from the locality.
