Bangladesh revises power plant tariffs for NWPGCL stations
The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today approved proposals for re-fixed levelized tariffs for two major power plants operated by the North-West Power Generation Company Limited (NWPGCL), aligning electricity purchase rates with prevailing market conditions.
The approval came from the 20th meeting of the CCGP in this year held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.
In the meeting, the Power Division placed six proposals in total, among which the revision of tariff structures for the Sirajganj 225 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant (Unit-2) and the Bheramara 410 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant received significant attention.
The committee endorsed the procurement of electricity from NWPGCL under the revised tariff framework based on current market fuel price conditions.
For the Sirajganj 225 MW plant, the re-fixed levelized tariff for gas-based electricity has been set at 4.513 US cents per kilowatt-hour, equivalent to Tk 5.541 per kWh.
For high-speed diesel (HSD)-based generation, the tariff has been set at 19.298 US cents per kWh, equivalent to Tk 23.698 per kWh.
In the case of the Bheramara 410 MW plant, the committee approved a gas-based tariff of 3.7869 US cents per kWh, equivalent to Tk 4.6503 per kWh, while the HSD-based tariff was set at 16.8540 US cents per kWh, equivalent to Tk 20.6967 per kWh.
