BNP mourns death of former Jubo Dal leader Nannu
Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal Vice President Zakir Hossain Nannu.
In a condolence message, Mirza Fakhrul, also the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD), said Nannu's death will create a void in the party due to the lack of a skilled organiser.
"I extend my deep sympathy to the bereaved family members of Zakir Hossain Nannu. I pray to the Almighty that He grants him Jannah and bestows patience upon the grieving family," he said.
"As a fighter against autocratic rule, he actively participated in the movements and struggles for establishing people's democratic rights under the leadership of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Deshnetri Late Begum Khaleda Zia and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman," the Secretary General added.
In a separate condolence message, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi expressed deep shock and grief over the death of Nannu.
In his message, he described late Nannu as a staunch follower of nationalist ideals and praised his courageous role in democratic movements and struggles. "With his death, the party has lost a dedicated organiser," Rizvi added.
Zakir Hossain Nannu passed away early today due to a cardiac arrest at the United Hospital in the city.
