Government prioritises crackdown on drugs and online gambling.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today said the government’s top priority is to curb illegal drug trafficking and online gambling.
“Our foremost priority is to contain illegal drug trading and online gambling. Drives against these menaces are ongoing and will continue,” he said.
The minister made the remarks while briefing reporters after a session on the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Deputy Commissioners’ Conference held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
Ahmed stressed that curbing illegal drug trade and online gambling is essential to maintaining social stability.
Responding to a query, he said the government is planning to enact a law to combat online gambling.
“We are now working to shut down all online gambling portals,” he added.
