Minister of Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury today declared Khulna 'Zero Point' as 'Nazrul Chattar', saying culture plays 
a vital role in projecting a country's identity before the world, making cultural diplomacy increasingly important in the contemporary world. 

Responding to a longstanding demand of the people of Khulna, the minister announced that Khulna's Zero Point would be named 'Nazrul Chattar'.

"Cultural exchange can create bonds between countries that sometimes cannot be achieved even through foreign policy," he said.

The minister made the remarks while addressing a divisional-level exchange meeting held at the conference room of the Khulna Divisional Commissioner's 
Office this afternoon as part of the celebrations of 'Nazrul Year'.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Abdullah Harun presided over the meeting.

Lawmaker of Khulna-1 constituency Amir Ejaz Khan, Administrator of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Nazrul Islam Manju, Chairman of Khulna Development 
Authority (KDA) SM Shafiqul Alam, WASA Chairman Mohammad Moniruzzaman and Range DIG Md Mostafizur Rahman addressed the meeting as special guests.

Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Culture Affairs Md Billal Hossain Khan presented a paper on Kazi Nazrul Islam at the meeting.

Deputy Commissioners of all 10 districts of Khulna division, divisional-level officials, political leaders, representatives of JASAS, Nazrul researchers, Nazrul Academy, Nazrul literature enthusiasts, teachers, theatre personalities, NGO representatives, journalists and cultural and social activists participated in the exchange meeting.
