Condolences pour in over BSS editor’s mother’s death
LGRD and Cooperatives Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Jobeda Begum, 82, mother of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Chief News Editor (CNE) Manikul Azad.
In a condolence message, he prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon, Prime Minister's Press Secretary AAM Saleh Shibly and Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Secretary General Kader Gani Chowdhury also mourned her death.
In separate condolence messages, they also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to bereaved family.
Jobeda Begum passed away around 5pm today while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dinajpur town.
She is survived by five sons, two daughters, relatives and well-wishers.
Jobeda Begum will be laid to eternal rest at Bazar Deha village graveyard under Pirganj upazila in Thakurgaon district after a namaz-e-janaza on the graveyard premises at 10am tomorrow (Sunday).
Despite living in a remote village, Jobeda Begum's five sons and two daughters received higher education from prestigious institutions of the country.
Jobeda played crucial role in encouraging her sons and daughters to receive higher degrees and work for the well-being of the people, family sources said.
Her sons and daughters are now working in higher positions at various state-run, government and non-government institutions.
