Mobile court crackdown: Sweet shop fined for hygiene breach

A mobile court in Bera upazila of Pabna fined a sweet shop Tk 5,000 for unhygienic conditions, expired licence, and violating consumer protection rules.

The drive was conducted on Sunday noon at Tikkabazar near Nagarbarighat under Aminpur Police Station by Bera Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Nuren Mayesha Khan.

The operation was part of a routine food safety inspection and consumer rights enforcement drive aimed at ensuring hygienic food production and fair business practices in the area.

Serious hygiene violations found

According to official sources, the mobile court identified severe lapses in food hygiene and safety standards at the establishment.

During the inspection, it was found that essential ingredients such as sugar syrup, edible oil, and chhana (curdled milk) were left uncovered. This exposed serious health risks.

Penalty imposed

Following the inspection, the mobile court fined the shop Tk 5,000 under Section 43 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
