UAE Provides Humanitarian Assistance to 1,500 Flood-Affected Families in Sylhet

Dhaka, 09 September 2026: The Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended humanitarian assistance to families affected by the recent floods in Sylhet. As part of a wider UAE-funded relief initiative, food and clothing packages have been distributed among 1,500 affected families in Osmaninagar and Bishwanath upazilas.

The initiative is being implemented through the Foreign Aid Office of the Embassy of the UAE in Dhaka, which is providing food and clothing packages to approximately 10,000 families affected by natural disasters across different parts of Bangladesh.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs-1 Humaiun Kobir attended the distribution program as the chief guest.

Also present was Rashed Mohammed Naser Almail Alzaabi, Director of Foreign Aid at the Embassy of the UAE in Bangladesh.

Speaking at the program, Alzaabi said, “Standing beside people affected by disasters such as floods is our humanitarian responsibility. This assistance program aims to help meet some of the immediate needs of affected families and to stand beside them during this difficult time.”

The recent floods have disrupted the lives and livelihoods of families across Sylhet and other affected parts of Bangladesh, causing damage to homes and limiting access to essential necessities. The relief initiative aims to support affected communities by addressing some of their immediate needs and helping ease the hardships caused by the disaster.

The UAE’s humanitarian assistance reflects the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates and reaffirms the UAE’s commitment to standing beside the people of Bangladesh during natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies.
