Free film event celebrates Korean cinema

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bangladesh is set to host the Korean Story Festival 2026, a two-day film showcase celebrating the diversity of Korean cinema, beginning April 17 in Dhaka.

The festival will be held at the National Museum of Bangladesh and will remain open to all audiences free of charge.

Organisers said the event aims to promote cultural exchange between Bangladesh and South Korea by bringing together film enthusiasts and showcasing acclaimed productions across genres such as drama, action, historical and slice-of-life storytelling.

The festival lineup includes five popular Korean films. On April 17, screenings will begin with Mal-Mo-E: The Secret Mission at 4:00pm, followed by Luck Key at 6:00pm. On April 18, audiences can watch Assassination at 11:00am, Little Forest at 2:00pm and Escape from Mogadishu at 4:30pm.

Officials said each film highlights different aspects of Korean society, history and everyday life, offering Bangladeshi audiences a deeper cultural understanding through cinema.

The organisers hopes that the festival will further strengthen bilateral cultural ties and encourage greater appreciation of international films among local audience.
