Fully funded UK study opportunities announced

British Council has opened applications for its Women in STEM Scholarships 2026–27, offering fully funded opportunity for women in Bangladesh and other eligible countries to pursue higher education in the United Kingdom.

The programme, part of the Going Global Partnerships, supports one-year master’s degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics at leading UK universities. It aims to expand women’s participation in STEM fields and strengthen female leadership in research and innovation.

Each scholarship is valued at a minimum of £40,000, covering tuition fees, living expenses, travel, visa costs, health coverage and English language support.

Since its launch, the initiative has partnered with 43 UK universities and awarded at least 500 scholarships globally. For the upcoming academic year, 90 scholarships are available worldwide, including 25 slots for South Asian applicants in collaboration with five UK institutions.

British Council officials said the programme is designed to break barriers for women in STEM and promote diversity in scientific research.

Head of Education at British Council Bangladesh Toufiq Hasan said the initiative plays a key role in building a more inclusive and future-ready STEM ecosystem by connecting emerging women leaders with global research networks.

Former scholar Sadia Zaman described the experience as “transformative,” highlighting its impact on her research skills and confidence.

Applications for the scholarships are open until April 30, 2026.
