Prof Dr Md Zakir Hossain joins AUST as new vice-chancellor

Prof Dr Md Zakir Hossain has joined Atish Dipankar University of Science and Technology (ADUST) as its new vice-chancellor.

He joined the university on Sunday morning (September 13, 2026). Later in the afternoon, the university organised a reception to welcome the newly appointed vice-chancellor.

Dean of the Faculty of Business Prof Dr Md Ashraf Ali Khan greeted the new VC on behalf of the teachers, while Registrar Md Abdul Qaiyum Sardar welcomed him on behalf of the university officials.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees M Shamshul Alam Liton and Member-Secretary Md Kamruzzaman Liton, along with deans, heads of departments, coordinators, teachers, students, officials and employees, attended the programme.

Prof Dr Zakir Hossain was appointed vice-chancellor of ADUST for a four-year term with the approval of the President and Chancellor under Section 31(1) of the Private University Act, 2010.

An academic and researcher, Prof Zakir Hossain obtained his PhD from the University of Dhaka and an MBA in Finance from the university's Institute of Business Administration (IBA).

He served as a Professor of Management at IBA, University of Dhaka, for a long period. He also served as Director of Studies and Dean at Daffodil International University.

In the United Kingdom, he worked as a Professor of Management Studies at Icon College of Technology and Management, which operates in partnership with Lincoln Bishop University.

Prof Zakir Hossain has more than 19 research papers and publications to his credit.

University officials expressed hope that his appointment would further strengthen ADUST's academic, research and administrative activities.
