Minister stresses modern, safe environment for students’ development.
Road Transport and Bridges, Shipping and Railways Minister Shaikh Rabiul Islam today stressed the need to ensure a modern, safe and pleasant environment to foster students’ intellectual and mental development and ensure quality education.
“The future of a country depends on its students. Therefore, students should not be confined to textbook-based education; they must be nurtured with morality, patriotism, discipline and human values,” he said.
The minister made the remarks while inaugurating the newly constructed main gate of Lake Circus Girls’ High School at Kalabagan and attending its annual prize-giving ceremony as the chief guest.
“Alongside infrastructural development, educational institutions must improve the quality of education to ensure the overall development of students,” the minister said, adding that an educational institution can achieve success through a combination of teachers’ sincerity, parents’ cooperation and students’ regular hard work.
A sense of responsibility toward the country and its people must be developed among students, as they will run the country in the future, he said, adding that students should be equipped with modern knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of the information technology era.
He distributed prizes among students who achieved outstanding results in the annual examinations and those who excelled in various fields.
Teachers, students, guardians and other stakeholders of the school attended the programme. Speakers at the function highlighted various aspects of the school’s educational activities, infrastructural development and students’ achievements.
The programme also featured cultural performances by students and various other activities.
