Bangladesh seeks Pakistani investment in health sector.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain today urged Pakistani entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities in Bangladesh's health sector.

He made the call when Pakistan High Commissioner Imran Haider met him at the latter's office in the Secretariat in Dhaka.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues related to mutual interest, including cooperation in the health sectors, finalisation of a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), pharmaceuticals, and skills development for health professionals.

The expansion of trade in surgical equipment and pharmaceutical products was also discussed.

The health minister said Bangladesh could further increase its exports of vaccines and cancer medications to Pakistan.

The Pakistan envoy briefed the minister on various proposals for cooperation regarding organ transplantation between the health sectors of Bangladesh and Pakistan.

He also informed the Bangladesh minister that GIMS has expressed interest in providing training to Bangladeshi doctors on liver transplantation.

Besides, he said, the institution proposed assisting with liver transplant surgeries in Bangladesh in the future and providing post-operative care via telemedicine.
