Turkish-Bangladesh Joint Venture Launches Megasan Medical Industries in Ishwardi
Ishwardi, Pabna, July 4: In a significant step toward strengthening Bangladesh's healthcare manufacturing sector, Megasan Medical Industries Bangladesh Limited, a joint venture between Turkish and Bangladeshi investors, officially inaugurated its manufacturing operations in Ishwardi, Pabna, on Saturday.
The new facility is expected to reduce Bangladesh's dependence on imported medical equipment, save foreign exchange, create employment opportunities, and enhance the country's capacity to produce world-class healthcare products locally.
The inauguration ceremony was attended virtually by Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain, who described the establishment of an internationally standardized medical equipment manufacturing plant as a major milestone for Bangladesh's healthcare sector.
"Local production of high-quality medical equipment will reduce import dependence, save valuable foreign currency, and contribute to building a stronger and more modern healthcare system," the minister said. He also assured the company of the government's full support in facilitating its operations and future expansion.
The facility was formally inaugurated with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by State Minister for Social Welfare Barrister Farzana Sharmin Putul. She later joined Megasan Türkiye Chairman Arif Selektin to inaugurate a special exhibition showcasing the company's advanced medical technologies and healthcare equipment.
The event also featured the inauguration of the company's state-of-the-art Equipment Testing Laboratory, jointly opened by Habibur Rahman Habib, Adviser to the Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Convener of the BNP's Pabna District Unit, and Professor Dr. Kamrul Islam, an Independence Award-winning physician.
Speakers at the ceremony described the Turkish-Bangladesh partnership as a landmark initiative that would open a new chapter in the country's healthcare and manufacturing industries. They noted that locally manufactured medical equipment would enable hospitals and healthcare institutions across Bangladesh to access internationally certified products at competitive prices while reducing reliance on imports.
The event was chaired by Engineer Md. Nazmul Hasan, Managing Director of Megasan Medical Industries Bangladesh Limited.
Among the distinguished speakers were Dr. Kabir Uddin Ahmed, Director General of the Bangladesh Sugarcrop Research Institute; Monira Yasmin, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Pabna; Pranab Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police, Pabna; Hasan Md. Shoaib, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Ishwardi; and Advocate Masud Khandaker, Member Secretary of the BNP Pabna District Unit.
The welcome address was delivered by Wahidul Hasan Topi, Executive Director of Megasan Bangladesh.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior government officials, leading physicians, industrialists, domestic and international investors, business leaders, and members of the media, reflecting growing confidence in Bangladesh as an emerging destination for advanced healthcare manufacturing and foreign investment.
