Cargo operations to be harassment-free, vows Minister Rita.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita today pledged to make airport cargo operations completely harassment-free, enforcing a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption.

She made the comment when conducting a surprise inspection of overall operations at the airport to assess service standards and operational efficiency.

During the visit, she observed activities at the cargo terminal and directed officials and staff to ensure prompt and hassle-free clearance of goods in line with proper procedures.

"Under the new democratic government, cargo operations will be made completely free from harassment, and a strict 'zero tolerance' policy against any form of corruption will be enforced," she said.

Later, the minister visited the hangar complex of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and enquired in detail about the technical condition of flight BG 202 (Boeing 787-9).

She instructed the concerned engineers and officials to expedite maintenance of the aircraft's central hydraulic system and make it airworthy at the earliest.

During the visit, she also inspected the aircraft's cabin and cockpit, observing the functionality of various instruments and panels.

Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq, along with senior officials of CAAB and Biman Bangladesh Airlines, were present.

The Biman's Boeing 787-9 aircraft had earlier been grounded at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet due to a technical fault in the isolator of its central hydraulic system, with maintenance work now underway to restore operations.
