Beijing is willing to elevate cultural ties with Bangladesh: envoy
Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka Yao Wen today expressed Beijing’s willingness to work hand in hand with Bangladesh to elevate cultural exchanges to a higher level as he met Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury and State Minister Ali Newaz Mahmood Khyom here.
A Chinese embassy statement issued following the meeting said the envoy called “cultural exchanges as an integral part of China-Bangladesh relations” as he held in-depth discussions on ways to further strengthen exchanges in the arena.
Yao said cultural exchanges could play irreplaceable role in fostering greater mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries and deepening their traditional friendship.
“The ambassador expressed hope that China and Bangladesh would work together to take bilateral cultural exchanges to a higher level,” a cultural affairs ministry official, meanwhile, said.
The Bangladesh side appreciated the envoy’s approach and noted cultural exchanges between the two countries in recent years yielded fruitful outcomes and expressed willingness to further deepen cooperation in this area.
The two sides also discussed strengthening experience-sharing and mutual learning as well as practical cooperation in culture and arts and the protection of intangible cultural heritage.
Cultural Affairs Secretary Kaniz Moula was also present at the meeting.
