Reviving wisdom for healthier living

Beximco Pharmaceuticals has celebrated Pohela Boishakh 1433 with a renewed commitment to Bangladesh’s cultural heritage, highlighting traditional knowledge on health, agriculture and lifestyle practices.

The celebration, themed “Bochone Bachun” (Live by Wisdom), drew inspiration from the timeless teachings of Khona, a legendary Bengali scholar believed to have lived between the 8th and 12th centuries. Renowned for her expertise in astronomy and environmental understanding, Khona’s verses—known as Khonar Bochon—continue to influence rural agricultural practices and everyday life across Bangladesh.

This year, Beximco Pharma incorporated Khonar Bochon into its New Year observance through office décor and corporate calendars. Selected sayings emphasised practical guidance, including maintaining proper air and light for good health, the importance of early rising, and optimal timing for sowing Aus paddy.

Chief Operating Officer Rabbu Reza said the ancient verses remain deeply relevant, particularly in promoting awareness about health, nutrition and sustainable living. He noted that such traditional wisdom aligns closely with modern scientific understanding and preventive healthcare.

Reza added that Beximco Pharma remains committed to improving public health through research-driven innovation, advanced technology and responsible manufacturing practices. The company continues to focus on delivering sustainable healthcare solutions, ranging from disease prevention to treatment.

Expressing optimism for the year ahead, he said Bangladesh is poised to achieve new milestones in healthcare, guided by a blend of heritage and modern science.
