Pakistan High Commission Observes 'Youm-e-Istehsal' Kashmir in Dhaka

DHAKA, Aug. 5, 2026 — The Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka on Wednesday observed "Youm-e-Istehsal" Kashmir, marking the seventh anniversary of India's August 5, 2019 decision to revoke the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the commemorative event, Pakistan High Commissioner Imran Haider welcomed diplomats, members of the Pakistani community, media representatives and guests from various walks of life.

Messages from Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar were read out during the programme.

According to the messages, Pakistan maintains that India's August 5, 2019 measures, including the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A of the Indian Constitution, cannot alter what it describes as the internationally recognized disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir or change the situation on the ground.

The messages reiterated Pakistan's support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, stating that Islamabad would continue to extend political, diplomatic and moral support to their right to self-determination, which Pakistan says is guaranteed under the UN Charter and relevant UN Security Council resolutions. They also urged the international community to facilitate the implementation of relevant UN resolutions concerning the disputed territory.

As part of the observance, the High Commission organized a photo exhibition portraying the humanitarian situation in Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan's perspective. A documentary highlighting alleged human rights violations and the humanitarian situation in what Pakistan refers to as Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) was also screened.

The event concluded with participants expressing solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Special prayers were offered for those who lost their lives in the conflict and for peace, justice and the realization of the right to self-determination for the people of the region.
