SAAB Elects New Executive Committee at Russian House in Dhaka
The Soviet and Russian Alumni Association of Bangladesh (SAAB) has elected a new 22-member Executive Committee in its 14th executive committee election, held at the Russian House in Dhaka with the participation of nearly 400 voting members from across the country.
Established on August 7, 1982, SAAB is one of Bangladesh's leading alumni organisations, representing more than 6,000 graduates of Soviet and Russian higher education institutions. Over the past four decades, its members have contributed significantly to the country's development in sectors such as education, science, engineering, medicine, public administration, research, business and culture.
The newly elected committee will lead the association over the next term and continue its efforts to strengthen educational, cultural, scientific and humanitarian cooperation between Bangladesh and the Russian Federation.
Speaking at the event, Alexandra Khlevnoy, Director of the Russian House in Dhaka, congratulated the newly elected committee and wished its members success in their tenure. She expressed confidence that SAAB would continue to serve as a vital bridge between the people of Bangladesh and Russia by promoting academic collaboration, cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts.
The Russian House also reaffirmed its continued support for SAAB and its alumni network. It reiterated its commitment to expanding educational opportunities for Bangladeshi students through Russian universities and government scholarship programmes, while encouraging graduates to contribute to Bangladesh's sustainable development and prosperity.
