Minister vows safer, more liveable Rajshahi metropolitan city.

Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, said a safer and more liveable Rajshahi Metropolitan City would be built in the coming days.

“The Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) is working tirelessly to make the city more suitable for good people to live in,” he said.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony held at the RMP headquarters this morning, marking the 34th founding anniversary of the RMP.

The Land Minister said the RMP was established 34 years ago at the initiative of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

Since its establishment, the force has been working responsibly to ensure the safety of city residents.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has given the highest priority to maintaining law and order, he said, adding that the government is working to ensure people can live safely and without disruption.

He congratulated all RMP members on the occasion of the founding anniversary.

After the inaugural discussion, a colourful rally was brought out from the RMP headquarters. The rally paraded through various important streets of the city before ending at the headquarters.

RMP Commissioner Mohammad Foyzul Kabir delivered the welcome speech at the event.

Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP, Professor Nazrul Islam, MP, Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Rajshahi Zila Parishad Administrator Advocate Ershad Ali Esha, DIG of Rajshahi Range Mohammad Shahjahan, Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP President Mamunur Rashid Mamun, among others, were present at the event.

On behalf of the RMP, it was announced that various programmes have been organised throughout the day to mark the 34th founding anniversary.
