Diplomacy and culture strengthen bilateral ties
A grand diplomatic reception and dinner were held in Islamabad on Tuesday night to mark the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh, bringing together dignitaries, diplomats, and members of the diaspora in a display of cultural pride and diplomatic engagement.
The function took place at the Sheesh Mahal Ballroom of the Serena Hotel, hosted by Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Md. Iqbal Hussain Khan, who, along with his spouse and officials, welcomed over 700 guests.
Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, attended as the chief guest representing the Government of Pakistan. The event saw participation from senior political leaders, parliamentarians, diplomats, UN representatives, business figures, journalists, and members of the Bangladeshi community.
The venue was decorated with traditional folk art, floral displays, and visual presentations highlighting Bangladesh’s socio-economic achievements, cultural heritage, and tourism potential.
In his address, High Commissioner Khan emphasised strengthening bilateral ties through enhanced cooperation in trade, connectivity, education, health, and energy sectors. He also sought international support for Khalilur Rahman in his bid for the presidency of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
The chief guest congratulated Bangladesh on its development progress and highlighted the importance of deepening cooperation between the two nations.
The function concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony followed by a dinner featuring traditional Bangladeshi cuisine.
