Bangladesh and CIRDAP discuss cooperation on rural development initiatives.
Director General of the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) Dr. P. Chandra Shekhar paid a courtesy call on the LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the Secretariat here today.
The meeting involved detailed discussions on strengthening mutual cooperation in research, training, innovation, and the implementation of sustainable development plans in the rural development sector, according to a press release.
Both parties expressed interest in working jointly to address innovative challenges and undertake effective development initiatives.
Mirza Fakhrul remarked that a joint initiative with CIRDAP will bring new momentum to rural development.
The Minister said that CIRDAP could be a significant partner for Bangladesh in strengthening research, skill development, and innovative activities in rural development. He also assured that the Bangladesh government would provide all-out cooperation for such initiatives.
CIRDAP Director General Dr. P. Chandra Shekhar praised Bangladesh’s ongoing development activities. He particularly noted the government's 'Family Card' initiative as a timely and people-friendly footstep.
Shahidul Haque, Secretary of the Local Government Division; Mohang Shawkat Rashid Chowdhury, Secretary of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division; along with other senior officials of the ministry participated in the meeting.
