Bangladesh Post issues commemorative stamp featuring Wari-Bateshwar
Bangladesh Post Office today released a commemorative postage stamp, a first day cover, a data card and a special cancellation mark to promote Wari-Bateshwar, one of the country's most significant archaeological sites, highlighting Bangladesh's ancient history and rich cultural heritage at home and abroad.
Minister of the Ministries of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Faqir Mahbub Anam formally inaugurated the release of the commemorative items using a special cancellation at his office at the Secretariat, said a ministry press release.
The publications are commemorative postage stamp of Tk 10, a first day cover of Tk 10, and a data card of Tk 5.
Speaking on this, the minister said Wari-Bateshwar is one of the most important archaeological sites representing the history and civilisation of Bangladesh.
The commemorative postage stamp and the related publications would not only introduce the country's rich heritage to the younger generation but also further enhance the international recognition of Wari-Bateshwar, he added.
Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Bilquis Jahan Rimi, Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain and Director General of the Department of Posts Kazi Asadul Islam were present at the inauguration ceremony.
