Rizvi urges resistance to destabilization, stronger dengue prevention measures

BNP Acting Secretary General and Political Adviser to the Prime Minister Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said that the cohorts of the fugitive fascist are working in various ways to put the elected government in trouble and destabilize the country.

“Tarique Rahman’s government is the people’s government, and the government will not tolerate any kind of anarchy or crime,” Rizvi said, calling upon everyone to resist the evil forces.

Rizvi made the remarks while speaking at a leaflet distribution programme on dengue awareness on the premises of Bangladesh Medical University in the capital this noon.

Commenting that everyone’s efforts are needed to tackle dengue, Rizvi said that if people had been conscious beforehand, dengue could have been controlled to a large extent.

He said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed people to quickly clean stagnant and accumulated water around their surroundings so that mosquitoes cannot breed.

Calling upon every municipality and local government institution in the country to strengthen cleanliness campaigns to control the dengue outbreak, he said that, along with destroying mosquito larvae to prevent dengue, it is important to take various necessary initiatives to stop mosquito breeding.
Rizvi further said that under the Prime Minister’s three-month cleanliness programme announced on September 12, local government employees and colleagues will conduct cleanliness campaigns in various places to prevent dengue.

He stressed the importance of everyone concerned following the guidelines to prevent mosquito bites and breeding and curb the spread of dengue.

Regarding the cost of dengue testing, the veteran BNP leader said that although a fee of Tk 50 was previously charged for the test, dengue testing is now completely free at government hospitals. Any citizen can now get tested at government hospitals free of cost.

He added that although the government has taken various necessary steps for the treatment of dengue patients, more effective measures should be ensured in this regard.
