Bangladesh–Pakistan Industrial Cooperation Talks

Industries Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir today held a courtesy meeting with Pakistani High Commissioner (HC) Imran Haider at the Ministry of Industries to explore new avenues for expanding bilateral trade and investment. 

The discussion centered on identifying strategic opportunities for industrial cooperation and strengthening the economic ties between the two nations, said a press release.

During the meeting, both sides engaged in comprehensive talks aimed at bolstering industrial synergy and addressing various issues of mutual interest. 

The primary strategic objectives identified during the dialogue include expansion of bilateral trade and investment opportunities; enhancement of strategic and technical cooperation within the industrial sector and addressing issues of mutual interest to facilitate smoother economic exchange.

Khandaker Abdul Muktadir underscored the potential for establishing robust joint ventures, noting that such collaborations would be mutually beneficial for the industrial landscapes of both nations. 

He emphasized the importance of making the existing commercial relationship more dynamic and called for increased cooperation and investment in the key sectors, including sugar, textile, pharmaceuticals and leather.

Responding to the Minister's vision, High Commissioner Imran Haider expressed his appreciation for the significant industrial progress achieved by Bangladesh. 

He specifically lauded the country's investment-friendly environment, characterizing it as a major incentive for foreign capital.

The High Commissioner expressed a strong commitment to encouraging Pakistani entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities in Bangladesh. 

He further emphasized the necessity of strengthening Business-to-Business (B2B) partnerships and increasing direct communication between the business communities of both nations to foster long-term economic collaboration.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from both parties to work in unison to bolster industrial synergy and expand trade volumes, the release added.

Industries Secretary Md. Obaidur Rahman and senior officials from the ministry and the high commission were present during the meeting .
