Minister orders coordinated transport preparations for safe Puja travel

Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam has directed authorities to coordinate preparations across road, rail and waterways to ensure safe travel during the five-day Durga Puja holiday.

He gave the directives at a meeting at the Road Transport and Highways Division today, stressing uninterrupted celebrations and hassle-free journeys.

The meeting decided to prevent excessive fares, introduce special BRTC bus services, keep sufficient ferries ready, deploy law enforcement personnel at bridge toll plazas and conduct mobile courts against irregularities.

Authorities were also directed to repair key roads around Dhaka, introduce three pairs of special trains on the Dhaka-Chattogram and Cox's Bazar routes, add coaches on other routes and prevent ticket black marketing.

The minister emphasised security and preparations for increased passenger pressure, including travel related to Durga idol immersion.

State Ministers Habibur Rashid and Md. Razib Ahsan, senior officials and representatives of relevant agencies attended the meeting.

The minister urged all agencies to work together to ensure peaceful celebrations and safe, comfortable journeys.
