Amit urges democratic rebuilding, rejects revenge politics.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit, MP today said the movement to restore democracy has created an opportunity to build a new Bangladesh.
Amit, also Acting Organising Secretary (Khulna Division) of the BNP National Executive Committee, said this while addressing a brief rally as the chief guest before a procession organised by the district BNP, marking the second anniversary of the student-people's mass uprising and the fall of Sheikh Hasina.
BNP Central Committee Vice Chairman Professor Nargis Begum led the procession, which started from Munshi Meherullah Maidan.
Amit said the people have entrusted the responsibility of building a new Bangladesh and everyone must play a responsible role in strengthening the democratic process.
"If we follow the path and language shown by Hasina, it will be seen as an obstacle to anti-fascist politics," he said.
State Minister said the opportunity achieved through a long movement is by no means meant for revenge or misuse.
Addressing BNP leaders and activists, he said anyone who deviates from the ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman would have no place in the BNP.
Calling upon party leaders and activists to play a responsible role in curbing drugs and terrorism in their respective areas, he also urged the law enforcement agencies to intensify drives against smuggling, drugs and terrorism in the border district of Jashore.
After the rally, the procession paraded through different roads of the town before ending at the Monihar area.
District BNP President Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, General Secretary Delwar Hossain Khokon and a large number of leaders and activists of the district and city BNP were present.
