Health cooperation strengthens Nepal-Bangladesh people-to-people ties
Nepal and Bangladesh are strengthening their people-to-people ties through humanitarian and health initiatives.
Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh and Dr Salima Diabetic and General Hospital in Lalmonirhat, in collaboration with Nepal Embassy, jointly organised a eye camp in a private hospital of the town on Saturday.
Disaster Management and Relief minister Asadul Habib Dulu, MP, inaugurated of an eye camp while Nepal Embassy Deputy Chief Pratik Karki joined as guest of honor.
Speaking as the Guest of Honour at the inauguration, Karki expressed gratitude to the people and government of Bangladesh for their support following the recent flash floods in Nepal.
He said the health initiative, which is expected to benefit around 3,000 Bangladeshi nationals, would further contribute to strengthening the longstanding people-to-people relationship between Nepal and Bangladesh.
The initiative also reflects the close bilateral ties between the two neighbouring countries, particularly through cooperation in humanitarian assistance and public health.
A specialised medical team from Sagarmatha Choudhary Eye Hospital in Nepal is providing services during the camp. The team includes ophthalmologists and senior eye health workers who are conducting comprehensive eye examinations and providing cataract surgeries to patients in Lalmonirhat.
The eye camp is expected to provide essential eye-care services to thousands of people in the district, while also creating another avenue for community-level cooperation between Nepal and Bangladesh.
