State minister inspects Bishkhali riverside tree plantation programme.
State Minister for Forests and Environment Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam inspected the tree plantation programme on the Bishkhali River between Kachua and Morelganj upazilas of Bagerhat this morning.
At that time, he toured the relevant areas and planted trees on both banks of the river.
Faridul Islam said that there is no alternative to massive tree plantation to preserve the river banks, maintain environmental balance and combat the adverse effects of climate change. To this end, the government is implementing various programmes to build a green belt in the riverside areas.
Kachua Upazila Executive Officer Md. Ali Hasan, BNP President Sardar Zahid, General Secretary Sheikh Touhidul Islam and a large number of leaders and activists of the party's organs and associate organizations were present at the inspection and tree plantation programme.
