Visa brokers making false promises, warns Indian mission

Visa applicants have been warned against unauthorised agents and touts offering guaranteed visas, faster processing and confirmed appointment slots, with the Indian mission in Bangladesh cautioning that such promises are fake.

The warning was issued by the High Commission of India in Bangladesh through its official Facebook page, as applicants seeking Indian visas were urged to remain alert and use official channels.

In its message, the mission said touts make various promises, including “guaranteed visa”, “fast processing” and “confirmed slot”, but applicants could end up losing their money, visa opportunities and valuable time by believing such claims.

The Indian mission advised applicants not to hand over money, travel documents or personal information to unauthorised agents.

It specifically urged applicants seeking a transit visa to apply directly through the official visa application process.

The warning comes amid continued demand among Bangladeshi travellers for Indian visas, making applicants vulnerable to intermediaries who claim to have access to visa appointments or influence over the application process.

The mission advised applicants to remain cautious and avoid dealing with individuals or agencies that are not authorised to provide visa services.

Applicants were also encouraged to rely on official information when submitting visa applications and to protect their passports and personal information from unauthorised parties.

The Indian mission concluded its advisory with a simple message to applicants: “Stay alert. Stay safe.”
