DHAKA: Prashanta Kumar Barman, head of the Cultural Programme Section of the Russian Embassy in Dhaka, was accorded a reception marking 38 years of his professional journey.

An informal programme was organised at his office to celebrate the milestone on Thursday, bringing together colleagues, friends and associates who have been connected with Barman throughout his long professional career and cultural activities.

Alexandra Khlevnoy, director of Russian House in Dhaka, extended her best wishes to Barman on the completion of his 38-year professional journey.

Barman began his career in 1989 and, over the years, has built longstanding relationships with colleagues, cultural activists, members of the Soviet/Russian Alumni Association, media representatives and journalists in Bangladesh.

Reflecting on his career, Barman expressed gratitude to the people who have supported him throughout the years, saying their love, friendship, cooperation and goodwill remain among the most valuable achievements of his professional life.

A significant part of his journey has been associated with members and friends of the Soviet/Russian Alumni Association, with whom he has maintained close relations and worked together on various activities.

He also expressed appreciation for Bangladeshi media representatives and journalists for their continued cooperation in his professional responsibilities and cultural engagements.

“The support, sincerity and friendship of journalists and media representatives have enriched my professional journey,” Barman said in a message marking the occasion.

He also thanked his colleagues, including those who have remained by his side for more than two decades and those who were part of his journey for only a few years or a shorter period.

For Barman, the value of a relationship is not determined by its duration but by its sincerity.

Looking back on 38 years of professional life, he described the journey as more than a measure of time. It is a collection of memories, experiences, responsibilities and relationships built with people along the way, he said.

Barman paid tribute to everyone who became part of his professional journey and expressed gratitude for their friendship, cooperation and affection.

As he marks 38 years of professional life, Barman said he remains grateful for the journey so far and optimistic about the days ahead.
