Nepal, Bangladesh deepen cricket ties as T20 series planned for March

DHAKA, September 16, 2026: Nepal and Bangladesh are looking to deepen cooperation in cricket and other sports, with a three-match T20 International series between the two countries scheduled to be held in Kathmandu in March next year.

Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanashyam Bhandari met Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Tamim Iqbal at the latter’s office on Wednesday as part of the Nepal Embassy’s efforts to strengthen sports cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the BCB shared details of the upcoming three-match T20I series, which is scheduled to be played in Kathmandu on March 26, 28 and 30, 2027.

The series will be dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives in the recent devastating flash floods in Nepal, according to the Nepal Embassy. The initiative is intended to reflect the friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

The embassy thanked the Ministries of Youth and Sports of Nepal and Bangladesh, the Cricket Association of Nepal and the BCB for their roles in advancing cricket cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting also highlighted broader plans to expand sports ties through men's and women's cricket tours, High Performance programmes, and training and technical support.

The latest initiative marks another step in the growing sporting ties between Nepal and Bangladesh, with both sides seeking to use cricket as a platform to strengthen people-to-people connections and bilateral friendship.
