A swimming and diving competition was held in Dhaka to celebrate National and International Sports Day 2026, drawing enthusiastic participation from promising athletes across the country.

The event, organised by the Bangladesh Swimming Federation, took place at the National Swimming Complex in Mirpur of the city on Tuesday.

The programme was presided over by Mizanur Rahman (Mia Bhai), Vice-President of the federation and Chairman of the Mia Bhai Foundation.

He said, the function reflects ongoing efforts to identify and nurture swimming talent from the grassroots level.

Officials noted that such initiatives are part of broader efforts to develop competitive athletes capable of representing Bangladesh on the global stage.

Participants competed in various swimming and diving categories, with winners receiving medals and certificates in recognition of their performance.

Sports organisers and enthusiasts present at the event expressed optimism that continued investment in grassroots competitions will help elevate the country’s standing in aquatic sports.
