India-Bangladesh business ties gain fresh momentum in Dhaka
Dhaka, August 17, 2026: A high-level business delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is visiting Dhaka from August 17–19 to explore new opportunities for strengthening economic, trade and investment ties between India and Bangladesh.
Led by CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee, the 14-member delegation comprises senior representatives from leading Indian companies and institutions, including Bharat Biotech, Infravision Foundation, Godrej Industries, Arvind Limited, LMW Global, Mahindra Group, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Forbes Marshall, Numaligarh Refinery Limited, Apollo Hospitals and Indian Oil Corporation.
The visit comes as businesses from both countries seek to expand bilateral trade, investment and industrial cooperation while identifying new areas of mutual economic interest.
During the three-day visit, the delegation is scheduled to meet senior members of the Bangladesh government, including Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam.
The meetings are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral trade and investment, expanding business-to-business partnerships, addressing issues of mutual interest and identifying emerging sectors for cooperation.
The Indian business leaders will also participate in a luncheon meeting hosted by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo will attend the programme as chief guest.
The luncheon will provide an opportunity for the CII delegation to engage directly with leading Bangladeshi entrepreneurs, business leaders and industry representatives and explore potential partnerships across key sectors.
The delegation's participation reflects growing interest among Indian businesses in Bangladesh's market and the wider regional economic landscape. The visit is also expected to facilitate stronger private-sector engagement and encourage new investment and industrial collaboration between the two neighbouring countries.
The CII delegation's Dhaka visit is aimed at building on the longstanding economic relationship between India and Bangladesh through greater commercial engagement, investment partnerships and industry-to-industry cooperation.
