Government announces Eid-ul-Azha travel safety measures nationwide.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today said the government of Bangladesh has announced comprehensive measures to ensure safe travel and maintain law and order during the holiday rush ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

"We have taken all necessary steps to ensure that people can travel safely and celebrate Eid without disruption," he said.

The minister made the remarks while briefing reporters after a session on the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Deputy Commissioners' Conference held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.

He added that the law enforcement agencies are working in full coordination to maintain security across the country.

The minister said no cattle markets will be allowed on roads or near railway tracks, while police will use body-worn cameras and fake currency detectors in major markets.

A central monitoring cell will be set up at the Police Headquarters a week before Eid to ensure round-the-clock oversight, with expanded surveillance on highways, he said.

Special measures are also planned for ferry terminals and river routes, alongside public awareness campaigns to reduce accidents, he added.

Additionally, free salt will be distributed at the upazila level to help preserve sacrificial animal hides, aiming to prevent post-Eid losses.

The minister hoped that these coordinated steps will ensure a safe, orderly, and hassle-free Eid journey for citizens nationwide.
