UAE Government Provides Humanitarian Assistance to 1,500 Families Affected by Floods and Landslides

Dhaka, 01 September 2026: The Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended humanitarian assistance to communities affected by the recent floods and landslides in Bangladesh. Through the Foreign Aid Office of the Embassy of the UAE in Dhaka, food and non-food packages are being distributed among approximately 10,000 affected families across disaster-hit areas of the country.

As part of the ongoing initiative, humanitarian assistance was distributed among 1,500 families affected by floods and landslides in Banshkhali Upazila of Chattogram.

The distribution program was attended by Dr. Md. Zakaria, Secretary and Director General of the NGO Affairs Bureau, as the chief guest. Rashed Mohammed Nasser Almeili Aljabi, Director of Foreign Aid at the Embassy of the UAE in Bangladesh, was also present at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Rashed Mohammed Nasser Almeili Aljabi said, “Standing beside people affected by disasters such as floods and landslides is our humanitarian responsibility. This assistance program is being carried out to help address the urgent needs of affected families and ease some of the difficulties they are facing during this challenging time.”

The recent floods and landslides have left many families across different parts of Bangladesh facing severe hardship, with damage to homes, livelihoods and access to basic necessities. The initiative aims to provide immediate relief by supporting affected families with essential food and other necessary supplies.

The UAE Government’s humanitarian initiative reflects the longstanding friendship and close ties between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates, while reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to standing beside the people of Bangladesh during times of natural disasters and humanitarian crises.
