Bangladesh, Pakistan universities to deepen cooperation in IT, AI, robotics

Bangladesh and Pakistan have agreed to strengthen academic cooperation, particularly in information technology, artificial intelligence, robotics and solar technology, through joint research and faculty and student exchange programmes.

The understanding was reached when Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider visited Daffodil International University (DIU) in Dhaka and met its Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M R Kabir on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Haider congratulated the vice chancellor on DIU’s achievements in various international university rankings.

Recalling his visit to Pakistan, Prof Kabir appreciated the quality and diversity of higher education offered by Pakistani universities, particularly in science and technology.

He said there was significant scope for cooperation between higher educational institutions of the two countries.

The Pakistani envoy reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to promoting educational cooperation with Bangladesh and briefed the vice chancellor on various initiatives being undertaken under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor.

Both sides agreed to promote institutional linkages between DIU and leading Pakistani universities, with a particular focus on IT, AI, robotics and solar technology.

The proposed cooperation will include joint research as well as faculty and student exchange programmes, according to the discussions.

Following the meeting, the high commissioner and the vice chancellor visited various departments and facilities of DIU.
