Government to distribute school uniforms to 4.5 lakh students soon
Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon today said a plan has been taken to distribute school dresses among nearly 4.5 lakh primary school students by July.
He made the remarks while inaugurating the four-storey Bishweshwar Poddar Bhaban of Panchami Ghat High School at Sonargaon in Narayanganj.
The minister said the government is working to make primary education more quality-based and enjoyable.
As part of the initiative, school dresses will be provided to around 4.5 lakh students across the country in July.
He also said multimedia classrooms are being introduced alongside initiatives to launch sports and debate clubs to improve the quality of education.
He further said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has attached utmost priority to the education sector and under his plan, a “mid-day meal” programme will soon be introduced in every primary school across the country.
The education minister said education does not only mean reading books all day and achieving GPA-5; rather, it should be enjoyable.
For this purpose, the government has already started revising and updating textbooks.
He also said the government is working to turn the country’s large population into human resources by introducing a third language and giving special importance to technical education.
He added that there is also a plan to formulate a policy regarding the nationalization of century-old schools.
Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad ABM Ashraf Uddin Nizan, Narayanganj-3 lawmaker Azharul Islam Mannan, Deputy Commissioner of Narayanganj Mohammad Raihan Kabir and Superintendent of Police Md. Mizanur Rahman Munshi were present as special guests.
Sonargaon Upazila Nirbahi Officer Asif Al Zinat presided over the programme while School Management Committee President Dr. Nusrat Fatema delivered the welcome speech.
