[Sylhet, 17 July 2026] Jalalabad Cantonment English School & College (JCESC) has reached a significant milestone in its pursuit of academic excellence by signing a partnership agreement with the British Council today. Under this collaboration, the institution will introduce the British Council’s Primary English Test and Secondary English Test to benchmark the language proficiency of its primary and secondary students.

The agreement was signed during a prestigious ceremony at the JCESC campus in Sylhet. The event was attended by senior representatives from the British Council, the school Principal and Vice Principal, faculty members, guardians, and students from Class III to XII.

In addition to the primary and secondary assessments, the partnership establishes JCESC as an official IELTS Registration Centre, allowing students, teachers, and guardians to register for the IELTS exam conveniently through the institution.

Highlighting the significance of this collaboration, Mr. Zunayed Ahmed, Managing Director and Head of Market-Bangladesh, British Council, said, "Our first-of-a-kind partnership with Jalalabad Cantonment English School and College brings benchmarked English assessments directly to primary and secondary students. By fostering robust language proficiency from a young age, we are paving the way for the next generation of global citizens, and we thank the JCESC leadership team for being the pioneer in this journey."

Marking the occasion, the Principal of JCESC, Lt Col Md Arifur Rahman, psc, PhD, AEC, expressed his sincere gratitude to the British Council, stating, "I sincerely thank the British Council for choosing our institution as a trusted partner. We highly value this collaboration and are committed to making it successful through our dedication and continuous efforts. I am confident that this partnership will strengthen English education in our institution and inspire our students to become confident global citizens."

The ceremony also featured an engaging presentation by Anika Bushra, Account Relationship Manager, British Council Bangladesh, which opened the floor for an interactive Q&A session. This allowed parents and students to interact directly with the British Council team and understand the long-term academic benefits of these assessments.

This partnership represents a shared commitment to excellence in English language education, opening new horizons for JCESC students by unlocking greater opportunities for academic success, higher education, and global engagement.
