Japan Foundation opens grant applications for Japanese-language education in Bangladesh
Dhaka, Sept 9: The Japan Foundation has invited applications from organisations and groups in Bangladesh involved in Japanese-language education for a grant programme aimed at strengthening language training for people planning to live and work in Japan.
The FY2027 Support Program for Organizations Providing Japanese-Language Education for Living and Working in Japan (Grants) is open to eligible organisations in Bangladesh as well as Mongolia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
The Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh announced the programme in a Facebook post on Wednesday, saying the grant would support the costs of purchasing Japanese-language teaching materials and printing and binding “IRODORI: Japanese for Life in Japan.”
According to the programme guidelines, eligible applicants are organisations or groups located in the listed countries that provide Japanese-language education necessary for people wishing to live and work in Japan. This includes people planning to travel to Japan under the “Specified Skilled Worker” and “Employment for Skill Development” statuses of residence.
The programme offers two types of support. The first provides partial funding for purchasing teaching materials and supplementary materials used for Japanese-language education focused on living and working in Japan.
The second provides partial funding for the printing and binding of IRODORI: Japanese for Life in Japan, a Japanese-language learning resource designed for people who need practical language skills for daily life and employment in Japan.
Eligible applicants can apply for either one of the two grants or both.
The application deadline is December 1, 2026, at 1 p.m. Japan Standard Time. Applicants have been advised to consult the application guidelines and forms before submitting their applications through the online application system.
The Japan Foundation has also published tutorial videos explaining how to create an account on the online application portal, prepare application documents and upload the required documents.
The grant initiative is expected to provide additional support to Japanese-language education providers in Bangladesh as demand grows for practical language training among people seeking education and employment opportunities in Japan.
