Rajshahi tops HSC pass rate and GPA-5 achievements despite board's lowest pass rate in years.

In the HSC exam results, Rajshahi district has topped both indicators — pass rate and GPA-5 achievement — among the eight districts under the Rajshahi Education Board.

This year, the overall pass rate in the board has dropped to 45.06 percent. That means more than half of the students who appeared for the exam have failed. However, in terms of achieving GPA-5, girls are ahead of boys.

Today at 11 am, Professor Iffat Zereen, Controller of Examinations of the Rajshahi Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, officially announced the results.

According to the results published by the board, a total of 4,520 students secured GPA-5 in the Rajshahi Education Board this year. Among them, 1,785 students are from Rajshahi district, which is about 39.5 percent of the total GPA-5 holders in the board.

Bogura district is in second position in this indicator with 1,309 students securing GPA-5. Pabna is in third position with 550.

In the results, girls are ahead of boys. The pass rate for boys is 37.71 percent, while for girls it is 53.03 percent. Among the 4,520 students who secured GPA-5 in the board, 1,965 are boys and 2,555 are girls.

The Controller of Examinations, Professor Iffat Zereen, said that 31 examinees were expelled for adopting unfair means during the examination.

This year, in the eight districts of the division, all students passed in only 9 colleges. On the other hand, no student passed in 39 colleges.

An analysis of the board's results over the past few years shows that the pass rate was 97.29 percent in 2021.
In 2022 it dropped to 81.60 percent. The pass rate was 78.46 percent in 2023, 81.24 percent in 2024, and 59.40 percent in 2025. This time it has further dropped to 45.06 percent.
After auto-pass in 2020 due to the Corona pandemic, this is the lowest pass rate in the board.

Regarding the results, Controller of Examinations Professor Iffat Zereen said, "Students have received marks according to what they wrote in their answer scripts. No extra marks were given to anyone. Hence, it has affected the overall results."
