Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu meets Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari at a state banquet, reaffirming bilateral cooperation, shared values and people-to-people ties.
Maldives President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his country's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Pakistan following a meeting with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and attendance at a state banquet hosted in his honour.
In a post on his verified Facebook account on Wednesday night, Muizzu expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to him, his wife and his delegation during their engagement with the Pakistani president.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the two sides to reaffirm the longstanding friendship between the Maldives and Pakistan, which Muizzu said was rooted in shared faith, values, mutual respect and strong people-to-people connections.
“Our warm and friendly discussions reaffirmed the enduring bonds of brotherhood between the Maldives and Pakistan,” Muizzu wrote.
He also expressed encouragement over the two countries' shared commitment to strengthening their friendship, expanding bilateral cooperation and advancing common aspirations for peace, progress and prosperity.
The engagement reflects the continued diplomatic interaction between the two South Asian and Indian Ocean countries, which maintain relations based on cultural and religious links and cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
Further details about specific agreements, new initiatives or policy outcomes from the meeting were not included in Muizzu's social media statement.
