Quaid-e-Azam’s 78th death anniv observed; President, PM pay tribute

The 78th death anniversary of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, was observed across the country on Friday with solemnity and reverence.

The day began with Quran Khawani at the Quaid’s mausoleum in Karachi, while special prayers will be offered at mosques across the country for the departed soul of the nation’s founder.

Government officials, political leaders and people from different walks of life are expected to visit the mausoleum to pay tribute to the Quaid and acknowledge his struggle for the creation of Pakistan.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have paid rich tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on his 78th death anniversary being observed on Friday.

In their separate messages, they highlighted the Quaid-e-Azam's visionary leadership, constitutional struggle and tireless efforts for the rights of the Muslims of the subcontinent that led to the creation of Pakistan.

The President said the Quaid's principles of unity, discipline, constitutional continuity, equality before law and democratic processes provide guidance to the nation in overcoming present-day challenges.

He called upon the people, particularly the youth, to follow Quaid-e-Azam's example of courage, perseverance and confidence, and work for a stronger, peaceful and prosperous Pakistan.

Prime Minister said best way to pay tribute to Quaid-e-Azam's enduring legacy is to work together for the promotion of national unity, social harmony and economic stability, so that a country truly reflecting the vision, ideals and principles of the great leader could be bequeathed to future generations.

Public and private organisations, as well as educational institutions, hold programmes and events highlighting different aspects of Quaid-e-Azam’s life, political struggle and leadership in uniting the Muslims of the Subcontinent for a separate homeland.

Television and radio channels also broadcast special programmes, including excerpts from the Quaid’s speeches, to commemorate his life and legacy.

Quaid-e-Azam’s principles of perseverance, discipline and commitment to purpose continue to offer guidance in addressing the political, social and economic challenges facing the country.

His political vision emphasised strong institutions enjoying public confidence, constitutional continuity and equality before the law. He also advocated resolving differences through constitutional institutions, democratic processes, dialogue and adherence to the rule of law.

Quaid-e-Azam passed away on Sept 11, 1948, a little over a year after the creation of Pakistan.
