Dhaka, July 4, 2026: The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) and the U.S. Embassy in Bangladesh jointly hosted a commemorative event at the Sheraton Dhaka on Saturday to celebrate the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, reaffirming the enduring partnership between the United States and Bangladesh.

The event marked two and a half centuries of American independence while highlighting the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries and their shared commitment to expanding economic cooperation, trade, investment, and people-to-people ties.

Delivering the welcome address, Syed Mohammad Kamal, President of AmCham Bangladesh, emphasized the significant opportunities to enhance bilateral trade and investment. He reiterated AmCham's commitment to strengthening Bangladesh's business environment and promoting greater investment by U.S. companies.

U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen reaffirmed Washington's commitment to deepening economic collaboration with Bangladesh. He also acknowledged AmCham's important role in fostering stronger commercial relations between the two countries.

Speaking as the chief guest, Mahdi Amin, Adviser and Spokesperson to the Prime Minister's Office, highlighted Bangladesh's growing investment potential, ongoing economic reforms, and the government's commitment to maintaining policy stability and a business-friendly investment climate. He encouraged increased U.S. investment in key sectors to support technology transfer, industrial development, and employment generation.

The celebration also featured a cultural segment showcasing American music, symbolizing the shared values, friendship, and cultural exchange that continue to strengthen U.S.–Bangladesh relations.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ala Ahmad, Vice President of AmCham Bangladesh and Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh, who expressed appreciation to all partners, distinguished guests, and participants for their continued support.

The program was jointly moderated by Paul Frost, Commercial Counsellor at the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, and Reza Ur Rahman Mahmud, Treasurer of AmCham Bangladesh.

Senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders, representatives of the private sector, development partners, and members of the media attended the event, reflecting the depth, diversity, and growing strength of the U.S.–Bangladesh partnership.
