Chinese envoy Yao Wen bids farewell to Bangladesh president

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen paid a farewell call on President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday, as the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations.

During the meeting, Ambassador Yao thanked President Alamgir for his longstanding support for China-Bangladesh relations and for the assistance extended to him during his tenure in Dhaka.

Yao said bilateral ties had advanced rapidly under the guidance of the leaders of the two countries and had been elevated to a China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era.

“China will always be a trustworthy good friend, good neighbour and good partner of Bangladesh,” the ambassador said, according to the Chinese Embassy.

He added that China was ready to work with Bangladesh to bring greater benefits to the two countries and their peoples.

President Alamgir praised Ambassador Yao’s work during his tenure and his contribution to strengthening friendship between Bangladesh and China.

He said Bangladesh attaches great importance to its relations with China and firmly adheres to the one-China principle.

The president also expressed Bangladesh’s interest in expanding practical cooperation with China, with a view to taking the friendly bilateral relationship to a new level.

The farewell meeting came as Ambassador Yao concluded his tenure as China’s envoy to Bangladesh, during which Dhaka-Beijing relations continued to expand across economic and development cooperation.
